PaceSetter Rainier™

PaceSetter Rainier™

PaceSetter Rainier™ is an innovation in coated recycled board (CRB).

With many of the characteristics of solid bleached sulfate (SBS) in combination with recycled content, PaceSetter Rainier offers brightness and whiteness that exceeds that of traditional CRB, enabling it to compete directly with SBS and folding box board (FBB). In addition, it provides improved surface smoothness for enhanced printability and tactile performance for truly stand-out printed packaging.

PaceSetter Rainier is also lightweight, and ideal for most consumer product folding carton applications including healthcare, beauty, confectionery, dry goods, dairy, and more.

Available in a wide range of calipers, PaceSetter Rainier provides superior package integrity and is designed to provide outstanding package and packaging line efficiency and performance.

PaceSetter Rainier Features

Food Contact Compliant

FDAcompliant for contact with aqueous and fatty foods.

Excellent Printability and Glue Adherence

PaceSetter Rainier provides a superior printing surface that is engineered to deliver excellent print results and a cleaner running press. A double clay-coated surface provides a clean surface for high-quality graphics.

Broad Range of Applications

The ideal solution for a wide variety of folding cartons and custom applications including healthcare; beauty; dry foods including cereal, cookies, crackers, and snack foods; toys and recreational products; electronics; household goods.

Consistent Performance in a Variety of Converting Processes

Carefully monitored board production and testing ensures that PaceSetter Rainier will run consistently well in all printing and converting operations and provides superior carton performance during carton distribution. Pacesetter Rainier is an economical alternative to SBS.

Sustainability
  • Unlike plastic and other packaging materials that are extracted from the earth, PaceSetter Rainier coated recycled board is made using 100% recycled fiber content (minimum 35% post-consumer) that starts with trees, a renewable resource.
  • Paperboard cartons are generally viewed as being widely recycled with >90% of U.S. communities having access to recycling for non-poly-coated paperboard and 60% of communities having access to recycling for poly-coated paperboard (American Forest and Paperboard Association’s Access to Recycling Study 2021).
  • While the paperboard itself may be considered recyclable, the packaging end product made from the paperboard may not be1
Fiber Procurement and Chain of Custody
  • As part of our sustainability strategy, Graphic Packaging is committed to sourcing wood and paperboard material from certified chain of custody and non-controversial sources.
  • All the recycled paperboard that Graphic Packaging sells meets the requirements of the Recycled Paperboard Alliance 100% (RPA100), Sustainable Forestry Initiative® Certified Sourcing, and Forest Stewardship Council® Chain of Custody certification programs.
  • The RPA100 certification program, which is third party audited, validates that the paperboard is made with 100% recycled fiberA copy of our current certificates can be found on our website.

Food Contact Compliance (USA)
  • 21 CFR 176.170 (components of paper and paperboard in contact with aqueous and fatty foods)
  • 21 CFR 176.180 (components of paper and paperboard in contact with dry foods)

Manufacturing
  • Mills are third-party certified to the ISO 9001: Quality Management System standards

1  Some packaging performance needs may require it to be coated, laminated or treated in other ways to provide different barrier properties (e.g., for food contact) or functional requirements, which can be more challenging for the recycling process. In addition, certain inks, embellishments, or other packaging design elements, and in the case of food packaging, the potential presence of food residues on the packaging at the point of disposal may present recycling challenges. Therefore, we cannot recommend specific recyclability claims for finished packaging products. We suggest that customers consider having their finished packaging certified as recyclable using the FBA repulpability and recyclability test protocol to support any packaging recyclability claims.
